This wonderful antique French Game Board print was part of an old archive find. It is entitled “The Great Fair”. It dates to around 1910, and was never mounted to the backing board. It is a splendid depiction of old circus, carnival fair attractions and freak booths. The colors are vivid and as bright as the day they were printed, no fading at all. (Any lighter coloring you see is just the flash reflection.)
It is just loaded with all sorts of wonderful images: devil, gigantic lady, clowns, Indians, Chinese people, freaks, a Negro drummer, a monkey, bedazzled spectators, hecklers, musicians, and more. This game board was made by Saussine of Paris. The text is in French, and the paper has an aged patina. This piece measures aprox 16.25 x 21 inches. It is in VG condition, with minimal wear to the edges that will frame out nicely. It would be outstanding framed up for a child’s bedroom, the game room, a toy shop, a man cave, you name it!
