This wonderful antique watercolor painting has white cabbage roses with just a hint of blush in them, in full bloom, held in a round glass rose bowl vase. It dates to the late 1890's and is just beautiful. The color hues are superb, unfaded and rich, with gouache highlights. It is signed Leatie C. Rogers lower right. These old paintings are getting so hard to find nowadays. This one came out of an estate in Missoula, Montana.
The image was hard to photograph, as the old uneven shimmery glass tends to distort the photo. The paper has a nice aged patina. The painting is housed in its original mahogany-walnut hued frame, and has three dimensional brass corner embellishments that echo the soft curves of the roses and vase. The brass corners have a lovely flower and scroll motif. Frame has the usual wear, and the painting is in VG condition also.
