Apatite is a delightful stone, that comes in a variety of blue-green shades, ranging from deep peacock blues to electric tropical neon-blue. Along with amethyst, it is one of the birthstones of the sign of Aquarius (Jan. 20 - Feb. 19) and associated with creativity, originality and self-expression. They also make a very unusual and quite beautiful color combination.
This style is one that I developed in the late 1990s, and has been quite widely copied by many newer designers, some right here on Ruby Lane. It is a classic Medieval and Renaissance style, of a single precious metal ring and a gemstone drop, often with a cluster of smaller gems.
The earrings feature faceted 9mm. briolettes of purple amethyst, wired to a closed sterling ring. The accents are all 4 and 4.5mm. faceted rondelles of purple amethyst, and 4mm. faceted double rondelles of teal apatite, all accented with 2mm. sterling silver beads. They hang from sterling silver French hook wires, with rubber stoppers for added security. They measure 1 and 3/8" total, and 7/8" without the wires. These are for my ladies who have requested some petite earring styles this year.
Tap into your own creativity and self-expression in these delightful artisan earrings, my Lady!
All metals used are .925 sterling silver, except the jewelry pins, which are .925 sterling silver-filled, and all apatites and amethysts are genuine.
