FREYA'S FLOWERS Earrings Baltic Honey & Cherry Amber Norse Medieval Style
These are crafted with 12mm. oval pendants of Baltic amber set in sterling silver frames. I've accented them with 4mm. and 5mm. smooth rounds of fine Baltic honey and rare clear cherry amber, worked on sterling silver-filled pins with sterling silver-filled bead accents. They hang from extra long sterling silver French wires with an old-fashioned full-blown rose pattern. Roses are Freya's sacred flower, and honey and cherries (along with strawberries, raspberries and quinces) are her favorite foods. They include rubber stoppers for security. They measure 1 & 5/8" total, with a total of 20 amber round beads in the pair.
Because amber is the lightest of all gems, these are very lightweight on the ear. They can be worn all day in comfort. Because the pendants are backed in silver, some of the scans do not show all the glistening honey lights, so I have overexposed some of the scans so you can get a better idea.
The last scan is a painting of the Goddess Freya, by the Victorian painter James Doyle Penrose. She is, appropriately, about to adorn herself with jewelry. This is her famous amber necklace named Brinsigamen, mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon epic of Beowulf.
All metals are sterling silver, and sterling silver-filled. All the amber is genuine Baltic amber.
