The inspiration for these earrings came on a winter day when I made a cup of my favorite bittersweet Bellagio hot chocolate. The smoky chocolate, cocoa, cream and teal colors of the canister are the color palette for these earrings.
The bottom briolette is 10mm. faceted "chocolate" chalcedony, a deep translucent cocoa brown that really does look like bits of chocolate. The cascade above them features 7mm. faceted briolettes of cocoa-colored cubic zirconia, 4mm. faceted rondelles of smoky quartz, 4mm. rounds of teal hemimorphite, 5mm. faceted rondelles of teal-and-cream swirled Czech art glass, and 4mm. faceted rondelles of milky opalite glass. All are worked on sterling silver-filled pins to sterling silver rolo chain.
The earrings hang from secure sterling silver leverback wires. They measure 2 & 1/8" total, and 1.5" without the leverback wires. They are fairly lightweight.
All metals are sterling silver and sterling silver-filled. The chalcedony, smoky quartz, and hemimorphite are natural gems. The cubic zirconia, opalite and Czech art glass are lab-created.
