SEA STORM Earrings Labradorite Rainbow Moonstone Aquamarine Quartz Crystal

I love the restless North Atlantic, with its huge swells, mysterious deep colors and frequent storms. Gazing at it has been a lifelong source of creative inspiration for me. These earrings are crafted in the haunting colors of the northern seas just before a storm, in flashing labradorite, rainbow moonstone, gem aquamarine, hemimorphite, aquamarine-colored quartz crystal, sapphire-colored cubic zirconia, and sapphire and cobalt crystals.

The main gemstone is labradorite (which is appropriately named after the beautiful Canadian Maritime province of Labrador on the North Atlantic). Labradorite is in the same feldspar family of gemstones as moonstone, and has the same elusive shimmering quality of ever-changing light. Its golden/gray/green/blue flashes are the exact shade of the ocean waves just before a storm. The scans did not pick up anywhere near all of the subtle flash of these labradorites.

From the bottom, the gems are: 10mm. faceted teardrop labradorite briolettes; 7-8mm. faceted full-round rainbow moonstone briolettes; 7mm. faceted full-round quartz crystal briolettes, dyed aquamarine-color; 9mm. faceted sapphire-color cubic zirconia briolettes; 4mm. faceted rondelles of labradorite, mystic rainbow moonstone and apatite-colored Czech art glass; 4mm. rounds of gem aquamarine, labradorite and deep-aqua hemimorphite; 4mm. faceted rounds of sapphire-color and cobalt Celestial crystals. All are accented with tiny sterling beads for even more silvery sparkle.

All are worked on sterling silver-filled wire to sterling rolo chain. They hang from sterling silver leverback wires. They measure 2.25" long total, and 1.75" not including the wires.

All of the gems pick up the deep blue, seaweed green and aqua flashes of the labradorites. The labradorites and rainbow moonstones have a good deal more flash in them than all the scans were able to capture. I guarantee that they are far more beautiful and sparkling in person.

All metals are sterling silver and sterling silver filled. The labradorites, rainbow moonstones, aquamarines and hemimorphites are genuine. The cubic zirconia, Czech art glass and Celestial crystals are lab-created.
