Coral Drop Salmon Bamboo Coral Turquoise Earrings Victorian-Style

If you saw the film "The Hours," you may remember the lovely coral drop earrings worn by Nicole Kidman in her splendid performance as Virginia Woolf. These are my modern adaptation of the coral drop earrings that were so popular in Victorian and early 20th century jewelry.

These are 9mm. smooth teardrops of natural white bamboo coral that has been dyed a classic 'angelskin' shade. They are worked on sterling silver pins and hang from sterling silver matching French hooks, with granulated beaded ends. The earrings measure a total of 1 & 3/8" long. The 4mm. faceted rounds are genuine Chinese turquoise. (Turquoise and coral were a very popular combination in Victorian jewelry).

All metals are .925 sterling silver. The teardrop coral is deepwater white bamboo coral dyed peach. I love to use bamboo coral because it is relatively plentiful, looks beautiful when permanently dyed, and does not deplete the world's endangered supply of red (called 'oxblood') and salmon-pink (called 'angelskin') reef corals.
