Serge Nekrassoff Enamel on Copper Candleholder
We offer a mid century enamel on copper candleholder made by artisan Serge Nekrassoff. The history of his work is fascinating. Born in Russia in the late 1800's he migrated to Germany after the revolution. He found his way to Darien Conn. where he established a metal working shop. He first crafted in pewter, but after WWII pewter was too expensive to use so the shop produced copper and began using the enamel process to decorate pieces such as this candle holder. Do a web search and you will find some very interesting articles about this artist.
The candle holder has a handle. It is about 2 1/2 inches tall and about 4 3/4 inch in diameter at the base. I don't find any damage. I have not tried to clean the metal in any way. It is marked on the bottom with the Nekrassoff stamp as shown.
