Russian Crushed Stone Miniature Painting on Marble

We offer a early mid 20th century miniature work of folk art from Russia. It's a painting done with crushed stone. I bought this at a recent sale. It caught my eye right away. There are two pieces of marble. The lighter color that the art is done on and then the black marble frame. The painting is very dimensional. It appears that layers of crushed stone are added layer by layer to give the painting depth. The trees in the painting are raised up. Overall the piece is approx 4 1/4 by 5 7/16 inch. It is signed by the artist lower right. I cannot make out the signature. It is in Cyrillic. My research tells me that these paintings were done in central Russia, much like the enamel paintings. There is no damage. No losses.

I love the birch trees. As I said, the painting or sculpture has lots of depth. Very attractive.
