English Stoneware Candleholder ca 1850

This nineteenth century English stoneware in relief molding is part of the Gothic revival movement. The design resembles architectural stone-carving, and the grey-green body with smear glaze contributes to the stone effect. It has a handle, and a cone-shaped device to hold your candle extinguisher. No maker's mark, but has a small impressed "leaf" as only clue to the manufacturer.

Size: Approximately 2.75" high, 6.25" diameter. Candle opening approximately .75" diameter.

Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs.

Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, I would expect a return if I happen to miss anything.
