1880's Kerosene Lamp with Painted Stem and Shade

I purchased this lamp as shown; I suspect that the shade was not original to the lamp, but the combination of base and shade was so attractive I didn't mind. As assembled, it makes a very colorful and decorative accent piece.

The base has a metal platform, of iron and brass, and the stem is of glass enameled in a design of fall leaves on a turquoise ground (more turquoise than my photo may show). Font is frosted, with bands of cut rondels. The half-round shade is decorated with painted tiger lilies on a yellow ground, with a gold stripe around the top opening. A very colorful and decorative accent piece.

This lamp has been fitted with an electric fitting that replaces the original burner, but does not require drilling the lamp to wire. The old wiring has been removed. Chimney most likely not as old as lamp. This lamp could be easily rewired, or a replacement burner could be found to return it to use as an oil lamp.

Note: International shipping is not available for this item.

Size: Base approximately 5.75" square; 13.5" to collar of font; as assembled, 21" to top of shade, 24" to top of chimney. Chimney is 2.875" base diameter, 10.25" high; shade is 9.875" diameter, 5.25" high.

Condition:. No chips, cracks or repairs.

Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, I would expect a return if I happen to miss anything.
