Nineteenth Century “Faux Bois” box

This charming little box was decorated to simulate fine rosewood with brass inlay. Rectangular, with a slightly domed top. Lock mechanism in place, but no key. Inside lid has velvet pad lining. Base color is red, with dark painted wood grain, and gilt striping and medallion on center of top. Areas of paint loss reveal the red undercoat. A charming little box for a table or dresser.

Size: Approximately 5.25" long, 4" high, 3" deep.

Condition: Good for its age. Some wear to paint, particularly on top.

Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, I would expect a return if I happen to miss anything.
