Longwy Pottery Plate with Scenes of Village Life circa 1885

This charming 97 plate has whimsical transfer scenes of various village characters and activities, including hunters, market sellers and the aristocracy. Body is a stoneware type, rather than earthenware. Additional color has been added over the transfer. Impressed mark used by Longwy in the late nineteenth century.

Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs.

Size: Approximately 8.75" diameter.

Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, I would expect a return if I happen to miss anything.
