Wonderful French Majolica Pitcher with Strawberry Motif ~ St Clement France 1920-1960

If you are a strawberry lover you will truly want to have this to add to your collection. The base of the pitcher has raised leaves done in variegated green and yellow colors. Beautiful red strawberries with green caps are hanging off of brown stems that encircle the main body of this piece. They are placed on a cream background accented with green splotches. The spout has green leaves under it forming a wonderful accent. The upper portion of the pitcher and handle is a mint green that ties in with the green splotches on the body. St. Clement factory is comparable with Henriot Quimper and the Sarreguemines factories of France. They all have been producing high quality pottery of faiences well over a century. St. Clement pottery is held in very high esteem by the French in France as well as the French of Quebec, Canada, and is collected avidly. IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE & ANTIQUES MAJOLICA IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.

There were three separate Faience / Majolica: Factories of LUNEVILLE (est. 1728), BADONVILLER (est. 1897) and SAINT-CLEMENT (est. 1758); in 1922 all factories were acquired by the FENAL FAMILY GROUP of the BADONVILLER EARTHENWARE FACTORY and continued operations, using mostly the trade names of KELLER & GUERIN (est. 1812) or St. CLEMENT.
