Amazing Belleek Vase ~ Hand Painted with a Red Vermilion Flycatcher Bird~ Artist Signed Louise Girand 1913 ~ WILLETS MANUFACTURING CO. (Trenton, NJ, USA) - ca 1879 – 1909

This is an amazing piece of workmanship! The artist Girand has captured the true beauty and color of the Red Flycatcher! Each stroke of the brush makes a new feather on this tiny creature giving it form and depth. She has used the cylinder shape of the vase to resemble a tree trunk which the bird is perched. The different shade she has used created this trunk to look like a birch tree making it a wonderful background for the bright red bird. She has painted the inside a mottled brown color. Willets Manufacturing Co. of Trenton, New Jersey was in business from 1879 until at least 1909. Willets began making Belleek in 1887. Its successor, New Jersey China Pottery Co., made Belleek marked with the Willets name until c.1914. Willets also made white ware that was decorated by others. This piece is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Manufacturing anomalies may exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.

Backstamp: snake, Willets Belleek
