Wonderful Bavarian Tea Set Teapot, Creamer & Sugar ~ Hand painted with Purple Violets ~ Zeh Scherzer & Co Bavaria 1880-1918

This set is ready to go to their new home! This is a beautiful rendition of purple violets. The artist has painted a large group of the tiny delicate purple violet flowers and green leaves on o both sides of the pieces. The flowers have been done in hues of light and deep purple with red, yellow and black centers. The leaves have a mixture of greens making them look very realistic. He has painted the floral arrangement on a pale blue and white background and added a nice amber color under the floral groupings. He has added gold to the rims, finial and handles to finish off these beauties. There are no chips or cracks; manufacturing anomalies may exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc. The company 'Zeh, Scherzer & Co.' was founded in 1880 and directly started to produce a wide range of pieces including coffee and tea sets, normal household items and tableware as well as decorated porcelain. Items made by the company at a time also caught the eye of the 'Geo. Borgfeldt & Co.' company which produced hand painted Limoges and during January 1907 and May 1908 'Zeh, Scherzer & Co.' produced a series of items exclusively for the company from New York. Being very successful in decorating porcelain, the company opened its art department in 1908. The resulting products were quite spectacular and even today remain a valuable addition to any art deco collection. After becoming a limited company, the business started to expand gradually as the name of 'Zeh, Scherzer & Co.' established itself on the German market. They successfully integrated art elements in normal household products. Some collectors like to point out that this was the greatest period of the company, resulting in some of the most beautiful pieces produced.

We have a 6 plates PLT1159, 3 cups and saucers CUP209, and a bowl BWL194 that match these.
