Wonderful 124 Yr Old English Aesthetic Brown Transferware ~ Windmill & Vines and Flowers ~ “Victor” Pattern ~ JOHN HEATH DAVIS Staffordshire, UK) - ca 1885

Nice size rectangular ironstone platter! The transfer on the side of the platter depicts a wooden fence with lattice work and vines growing up and over to the other side of the platter. The lower portion of the platter has branches of flowers and buds reaching upward and around the lower rim. In the inner right corner of the well of the platter a very detailed transfer of a windmill, birds and trees make up a wonderful little window scene. This piece has a couple of brown marks but it just adds the wonderful aged look! IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE ironstone / earthenware IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.

This would make a wonderful addition to any transferware or aesthetic collection.

Backstamp: Crown Shield inside circle with Victor on it, banner with JH Davis over shield RN 22036
