This is very interesting blue gray dinnerware piece from the Ivanhoe pattern by Wedgwood. The plate depict different characters from the famous Scottish novel, "Ivanhoe," by Sir Walter Scott. The Wedgwood Ivanhoe series was created by Thomas Allen, Director of the Fine Art Studios at Wedgwood factory. The main scene is Front de Boeuf Extorting Silver from Isaac the Jew. The transfer print on the border is done in a deep blue, and features pairs of game birds and other animals in the spaces between the cameos. Ducks, rabbits, fish, chickens, turkeys and partridges are the subjects of these delightful scenes. The cameos feature portraits of The Templer, Conner de Lion, Duke Of York, Jester, and Lady Rowan. IT IS RARE TO FIND OLDER EARTHENWARE IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
