Gorgeous Bavarian Porcelain Plate ~ Pickard Studio with Yellow Centered White Daisies ~ Artist Signed " Wight " ~ Jaegers & Co Bavaria / Pickard Studios Chicago IL 1906 - 1910
Mr. Wight has painted a wonderful rendition of Shasta daisies on this gorgeous scalloped mold called the Louise. The flowers have a vibrant yellow center and white petals giving the impression of the sun light glistening off the petals. The greenery is a mixture of blue, green and yellow hues. Around the upper portion of the flowers he has used a sky blue background and the underside he has just a hint of pink in background. These colors blend into a creamy light yellow and gold color to finish out the background colors. He has completed this masterpiece with a golden rim and three insets designs painted in gold. The artist ‘Mr. Philip Wight’ has signed the front of this piece of artwork. He is listed in the "Collector's Encyclopedia of Pickard China," by Alan B. Reed and is a well know china painter. There are no hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
Please see our other Pickard plates. They would look beautiful together as a grouping.
