Superb English Majolica Plate with Reticulated Rim ~ Josiah Wedgwood ca 1880

This is a superb example of an antique Majolica "Basket-Weave" Plate, made by Josiah Wedgwood. The plate is decorated with a deep relief molded pattern of basket-weave. It is framed by a scalloped, reticulated rim, and is finished in a rich green glaze typical of majolica wares. The glaze is still very shiny and makes the color pop! The plate is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. There are some flea-bites to the rim edge, these are minimal. IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE MAJOLICA IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.

This would make a wonderful addition to any majolica collection.
