This dish shows a pattern similar to the Chusan pattern (by Edge, Malkin & Co.) which is outlined with dark brown transfer and a back stamp showing the name "Peacock" but without a maker's mark. In this scene we see two figures in imperial dress, one seated in a very ornate chair. Before them stands a grand peacock, with tail unfurled. Behind them is a Chinese fretwork fence with ornate finials. Tropical trees stand behind this fence. The richness of the design used suggests real wealth and privilege. There is a small rim chip on this piece. There are no hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
Backstamp: The word Peacock in side of oval
Measures: 6 5/8”
