Majolica Cabinet Plaque / Plate with Deep Purple Plums ~ Signed Obert ~ ~ KELLER & GUERIN - ERNEST BUSSIERE (Nancy, France) - ca. 1890s - 1930s
This is a very nice majolica cabinet plate that would look wonderful hanging in the kitchen. The design is a fruit motif using plums that are a deep purple color with a light violet outline. They are hanging from variegated green stems and are intermingled with green leaves. The fruit is placed on a deep golden background that graduates to a cream color as it flows over the plate. The back has two drill holes for hanging. This plate has a small chip on the rim. . IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE MAJOLICA IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
