Eye Appealing Limoges Porcelain Game Plate 10 1/4" ~ Hand Painted with Flowers and Game Bird ~ Artist L. Courdert Signed ~ Coronet 1906-1920

The artist has chosen an unusual scalloped mold that has raised relief beading around the gold trimmed rim indentions. He has painted white with pink edged petals flowers on a green background and has added wispy stems of grasses that extend upward from the green onto a blue, pinkish and cream background. The main focal point of this painting is the beautiful game bird. He has painted the head of this bird a deep purple color and a throat of bright white. The breast is done in black that resembles feathers blending into a rich brown and then a bright white. The wings are painted brown with white for the underside of the feathers. French Artist `L. Courdert' signed this piece. He is listed in the reference book by Mary Gaston; `Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain' 3rd edition, as a listed Limoges artist. There is a small underneath rim chip but it is not noticeable from the top side. There are no cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
