Awesome Austrian Porcelain Cabinet Plate~ Hand Painted with White Poinsettias ~ ALTROHLAU PORCELAIN FACTORIES - MORITZ ZDEKAUER Austria 1884-1909

The artist "Ann Smith" definitely showed her talent on this lovely piece of artwork. She has painted the background in soft muted hues of creams, yellows and greens and one section a deep brick red. Upon this she has placed a bold but yet subtle stem of glorious poinsettias. The green leaves and stem of the flower almost blends into the green background but she has added enough dark definition so you still can tell what they are. The red petals of the flowers and yellow of the flower centers appear to be growing out of the plate, they are so lifelike A gold rim completes this wonderful plate. There are no hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.

Please see our red poinsettia plate PLT533 for a wonderful display!!!

Poinsettia, the Christmas plant, is popular in many American homes. With the introduction of long-lasting cultivars, the popularity of the poinsettia has increased significantly. It was introduced to the United States in 1825 by Joel Robert Poinsett, first U. S. ambassador to Mexico who obtained plants from the wilds of southern Mexico. This wonderful plate will allow you to have this amazing flower all year long!!
