Beautiful Earthenware Blue & White Plate with Ships and Windmills ~ DELFTLAND ~ Brown-Westhead & Moore Cauldon England 1862-1904
This is a beautiful piece of blue & white earthenware. On the white background cobalt blue vines form a band on the rim. Flowers and leaves decorate within and around the bands. Three cartouches with windmills and ships scenes inside are interspersed with lattice work and leafy scroll groupings. In the center well of the plate there is a wonderful scene of a windmill on a hill, with a lake besides it and men in a boat. Trees and foliage make up the rest of the landscape and blue puffy clouds finish off this serene scene. IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE EARTHENWARE IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
