4 Amazing Earthenware Plates Over 150 years old with Transfers of colorful flowers ~ Pattern~ Wood & Challinor ~Tunstall Staffordshire England 1828 - 1843

To find this many plates in such a wonderful condition for their age is remarkable! This was originally part of a dinner service I'm sure. The bright red "leaves" on these flowers resembles peacock feathers, which I'm sure why the pattern name is "Feather". The flowers are brightly painted blue and yellow and give the pattern a wonderful lively feel. Shards of the feather pattern that match these plates were found during a dig in 1970-71 of the Scott's Pottery spoil heap. The dig was sponsored by the Sunderland Museum. These plates have no cracks, or chips; they do have a few flakes on the slightly scalloped rim. IT IS RARE TO FIND ANTIQUE EARTHENWARE IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
