Awesome French Faience Cobalt & Gold Filigree ~ Cake Plate with 5 Dessert Plates ~ Utzschneider & Co Sarreguemines France 1889 -1892

What a statement these would make on a table or displayed! The glaze and color are phenomenal! Not only do you get 5 round plates you also get a magnificent rectangular cake plate!!! The background color of these beauties is a deep cobalt blue that gives a nice depth to the pieces. A beautiful one inch accent of gold lace design decorates the rim. The centers of the plates have an intricate lines and shapes forming a beautiful golden cartouche. The edges have been trimmed with gold completing these wonderful pieces. There is some gold wear on the edges. There are no chips, hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.

We have a maroon set of cake plates just like this cobalt set if you would prefer that color. PLT938

Backstamp: impressed and sans-serifed 'SARREGUEMINES' mark.
