Beautiful German / French Faience Plaque ~ Teal & Brown Apple Orchid Scene ~ Utzschneider & Cie Germany (SARREGUEMINES) 1894-1918

This is #12 of a series that SARREGUEMINES produced. This lovely plate features a transfer in a leaf shape done in shades of brown and has teal blue "chintz" design of leaves and berries around the leaf shape. Inside the leaf shape is a brown transfer or sepia color of an apple orchid scene with people harvesting apples. At the bottom of the scene is POMMIER French for apple. There is a number 12 next to the leaf stem for the 12th in the series. It has holes drilled on the back to hang if desired. This plate is in very good condition except for a very tight hairline at about 10 o'clock that is very hard to see, a couple tiny rough spots on the edge and the normal slight discoloration and crazing from age. IT IS RARE TO FIND ANTIQUE FAIENCE IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
