This is a beautiful saucer just waiting for its matching cup. It is in the blue & white pattern entitled "Two Temples I", made by the W T Copeland company between 1851-1885. The Two Temples I pattern has a rich, dark blue, ornately decorated rim with beautiful butterfly and scroll work. The center portion features 2 temples on the left, a bridge with 2 figures walking across it on the right, a figure in the doorway, a 4th figure on the rocks, and a fence in the lower right foreground. The Two Temples I pattern is more rare than Two Temples II, also made by Spode and Copeland. IT IS RARE TO FIND ANTIQUE EARTHENWARE IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
