Wonderful Framed Oil on Canvas ~ Fishing Ships / Boats in Harbor ~ Artist Signed

Looking at this piece you are sure to fall in love with it more and more! The artist,(who did sign it-illegible) did an awesome job. He has given you parts of ships or boats not always giving you the whole picture and leaving you wondering what the other halves look like. In the bottom corner he has painted the front half of a small skiff that has a barrel and rope inside. Above this, is one end of another boat that has an orange fishing net hanging over the side, a small skiff winched up above with what appears to be netting of some sort inside and a man on deck. The artist has used a deep cobalt blue for the bottom portion of the hull. On the right side of the painting he has two massive ship hulls. One has been named "NOMAD" and has a white, light green and bright orange hull. He has painted sails, a mast and rope ladders going upward. A rope is hanging over the bow casting a shadow on the ship. The ship in the foreground is named "JENNY". He has painted the name and a cartouche in bright yellow. The hull of this ship is made up of deep greens and blues that all meld together nicely. Peering between the ships on the right and the boats on the left the artist has painted ships between them in the distance. He only gives you a glimpse of a couple green hulls and sail covered masts. The artist has painted the vessels on calm water using greens, whites and blues. He has used some reds and greens on the water as the reflection of the colorful hulls. The sky has wonderful white clouds that appear to dance through the blue and of course he has added some birds flying high above searching for that fish that has been thrown over! The frame appears to be an original weathered barn wood style, medium grey shades throughout the white background. We are dating this work 1940's - 1950's based on the canvas and the frame.
