LARGE 10 1/2'' tall Faience / Earthenware Water Pitcher ~ White with Gold Flower Accents ~ Attributed to DF Haynes & Sons Chesapeake Pottery Baltimore MD 1900-1914

We have attributed this lovely pitcher to DF Haynes due to the design and decorations. This was most likely out of a bath set and not all pieces of the set are marked by the manufacture. It has large bulbous body and a wonderful bright white background. Raised floral designs have been outlined in gold on both sides of the pitcher. The neck and rim have been accented with gold bands. The spout has a wonderful raised form of a head with leaves coming down from it on to the body of the pitcher. This is sometimes referred to as a mask. The handle has a thumb brace in the shape of a lions head. Truly an awesome sight! IT IS RARE TO FIND FAIENCE OR EARTHENWARE IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.

This would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
