This wonderful majolica pitcher is a Faience Avalon Balt made by Chesapeake Pottery / D. F. Haynes and Son, Co., Baltimore MD in the late 1800s. Beautiful raised relief, teal colored outlined fanlike leaves and flowers accented with gold decorate both sides. The upper ridge of the pitcher has teal diamond designs with gold dots in the middles. A raised rope design separates the upper band and lower leaf and flower design. They are on a beautiful ivory background giving this piece a special standout look. The handle has a branch design and is accented in gold. The rim is also accented in gold and has slight wear. This piece is in excellent condition for it's age with no chips or cracks. IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE MAJOLICA / Faience IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
This would make a wonderful addition to any majolica collection.
