Gorgeous Red Lacquer Letter Box with Drawer and Letter slots ~ lovely Cranes and Flowers ~Late 1800’s / Early 1900’s

This is an outstanding lacquer letter box that I'm sure was used and treasured for many years. The outside has a wonderful red lacquer that has been decorated with raised gold Mackie. On the two doors a beautiful scene of a large tree, mountains and two cranes are painted. On the other areas of the outside of the box are golden and platinum colored painted flowers. The two doors open to reveal a large orderly interior. The center of the box features levels of letter slots of various sizes to hold paper, envelopes, etc. Towards the front of the opened box there is an area to hold a pen and inkwell. When the doors are open the drawer may be pulled out from the bottom. The box has a lock but the key is long gone. The wooden letter dividers have been repaired on some of the corners. Around the edges there is some lacquer missing. Please see pictures for condition. This is a fine selection for anyone passionate about antique boxes.
