Rare Limoges Porcelain Double Inkwell ~ Hand Painted with Pink & White Flowers on Sea Foam Green ~ Rococo Rim ~ France 1891+

This is a remarkable and oh so beautiful hand painted inkwell. To find a double inkwell of this age still intact and with lids is very rare. This would look wonderful on a desk or secretary. The flared and ruffled edges are all lined with gold. Two round inkwells are inserted into the base and are removable. Hand painted delicate pink and white flowers with wispy greenery are on each side of where the pen would rest and in between the inkwell. The artist has added small black strokes to enhance the flowers giving them a realist look. He has used a soft sea foam green for the raised scroll work and left the rest of the background white. The raised detail in this piece includes beautiful scrolls and shell designs that have been accented in gold. The lids of the inkwell are still with the piece and appear to be in excellent condition. The artist has initialed this piece "RMW". This piece is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. Manufacturing anomalies may exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
