What a wonderful piece to have on display and bring a little bit of springtime into the room! This piece was given to an Oklahoma museum by an estate to either keep or sell if needed. This compote was manufactured by the Carl Thieme porcelain factory in Germany in the early 20th Century. This is a two-part bolted form consisting of a wonderful reticulated round bowl supported on a rocaille footed base encrusted with flowers throughout and embellished by gilding, The design in the center of the bowls is known as "Dresden Flowers" and can be seen on many other factories items. The colorful hand painted flowers and leaves are individually made and permanently attached around the outer portion of the reticulated bowl and in between the four reticulated feet. This form of decorative art requires practice, skill, diligence and experience. The floral arrangements between the feet on the base has small flowers sprays, one pink, one yellow, one white and a blue which recedes to one large colorful flower. The two handles, upper portion of the base and the feet have been accented with a green and pink pastel background. After inspection with a magnifying glass I have found three small chips on three flowers. We feel this piece still qualifies as excellent condition. This piece is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Manufacturing anomalies may exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
