Elegant Old French Saint Louis Crystal Decanter with Stopper ~ 22 Karat Encrusted Gold Fleur de Lis

This is a beautiful of glass, very fine and fragile. I am amazed it has lasted this long and that it has the original stopper! The piece is clear glass with the main body of the decanter sitting on a supporting base. The stopper is round and truly beautiful. It is hollow and has an air trap in the shape of an upside down tear drop in the portion going into the bottle, indicating that it was blown into a mold. A golden beaded band has been painted around the bulbous stopper. The neck of the decanter has pillar flute designs. There is a nice wide band of encrusted gold in the design of fleur de lis around the upper portion of the body. The base rim and top of the decanter mouth also have gold applied. The number 42 is etched on the stopper and the mouths rim signifying that this stopper goes with the base. When thumped with your finger it rings beautifully!! No chips or a crack, gold is a little worn which is associated with age and use, please see pictures to determine.

Marks: Etched "42" on the stopper and "42" on the lip of decanter.
