MISC395: Nice USA Tile with Blue & White Sea Side Design ~ Mosaic Tile Company 1920’s

This is a beautiful old tile with different shades of blues on a white background. Large blue floral designs are in each corner and a dark blue outlines the tile. The center design has a house with a figure walking on a path to it. Three ships are sailing in the water and birds are in the flying in the air. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The colors are still nice and bright.

Mosaic Tile Company of Zanesville, Ohio, was started by Karl Langerbeck and Herman Mueller in 1894. Many types of plain and ornamental tiles were made until 1959. The company closed in 1967. The company also made some ashtrays, bookends, and related giftwares. Most pieces are marked with the entwined MTC monogram.

Measures: 6” x 6”
