AMAZING Limoges Jardiniere~ Large 9" High and 31" Circumference. LOTS of GOLD! Hand Painted Pinecones ~ Signed Mary Bowen 1917 – William Guerin 1900-1932
This is a fantastic piece and very uniquely decorated with pinecones instead of the standard roses. Ms Bowen has used her expertise and has hand painted this magnificent piece as only a master would do! She has started with a soft creamy background giving her a blank canvas to work on. She has added a wide 3 ¼" gold band around the upper portion of the jardiniere and has outlined the band in black making it stand out nicely. From the rim of the piece she has added dark brown branches with beautiful variegated green pine needles with brown, green and purple colored pinecones nestled amongst them. She has accented the pinecone with white enamel to define the cone scales shape. Around the pinecones Ms. Bowen has added light shades of blue, purple, gold and green to the background giving the piece depth. The inside of the Jardiniere has a brown background painted 3" down from the top allowing a plant to be nicely potted if one wished to do so. She has finished off this masterpiece with a wide gold band on the base and a smaller one on the rim. She has signed and dated this piece, "Mary Bowen 1917". This piece is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Manufacturing anomalies may exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
