8 - Wonderful Cocktail / Wine / Sherbert Glasses with Etched Floral Designs ~ Gold ball Stems #553 ~ Glastonbury/Lotus Company

These are very lovely and have a wonderful look! The center gold ball on the stem set this apart from your average stem wear. The flared bowls of the glasses have a nice etched floral design. Some of the stems show some gold wear to the ball portion on the stem and one appears to have been painted. There are no chips or cracks on the glasses. Of course, a beverage would be wonderful served in these but so would a small appetizer or dessert.

The Lotus Cut Glass Company was incorporated in Barnesville, Ohio in 1911 by some local businessmen. The company began as a small cutting operation, but by the 1920's had expanded into other decorating arenas. In 1928 they started decorating with silver overlay and they also decorated with 22 and 24 karat gold until 1980. In 1960 the company purchased the Glastonbury Decorating Co in Chicago thus changing the name. The company bought glass in bulk and used blanks from most American glass companies. They had stock from these companies until 1980. The company ceased operation in Dec of 1995. All assets were dispersed by auction.
