Wonderful Old Haviland Limoges Covered Serving Dish ~ Factory Decorated with Blue Flowers and Brown Vines ~ Charles Field Haviland / Gerard, Dufraisseix and Morel France 1868-1880
This beautiful covered casserole dish has a very unique square shape. It has been factory decorated with dainty blue flowers on wispy brown stems. Golden brown leaves are nestled amongst the flowers and stems giving it a nice look. The edges have been accented with brush gold adding richness. The handles have gold accents in a lattice work design completing this piece nicely. The piece was made for Tyndale & Mitchell Co. in Philadelphia. In 1842 Hector Tyndale established Tyndale & Mitchell, an importing firm he co-founded with his brother-in-law. Over the ensuing decades, this company would become one of the principal purveyors of fine china and glass. There are no chips, or cracks; manufacturing anomalies may exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
Please see our platters: PLTR58 and PLTR59 that match nicely with this covered dish.
