Wonderful Old English Copeland Ironstone Covered Dish with Brown Transfers of Farming Scenes ~ W T Copeland ~ England 1850-1867

This pretty girl has really held her own, she is gorgeous! The piece has a creamy white background with applied reddish brown transfers. The transfers depict a man leading a team of horse pulling a rake through a fence and in the background more horse are working the field. The scene also has trees and scenery around the main objects of the transfers. The have been placed around the base and on the lid of this piece. The base of the dish has upturned handles making it easy to carry and serve from. The rim has a pie crust shaped design around the opening. The handle to the lid have raised relief designs giving it that added touch. There is also a whole under the handle on the lid to allow steam to escape. IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE Earthenware / Ironstone IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
