Gorgeous Limoges Porcelain Bowl ~ Hand Painted with Yellow Bearded White Iris ~ PM Mavaleix / Coronet 1908-1914

This is a lovely example of the artist’s talents, completely hand painted. Barin has painted a fully bloomed yellow bearded Iris accented and several buds waiting to open. Accenting the flowers he chose golden leaves and stems. He has placed the floral design slopping down one side of the bowl. The background of the bowl is painted in two sections of light grayish purple and a darker grayish purple giving the impression of the horizon. He has place a dark gray purple tree silhouette in the back ground that extends from the flowers to the other side of the bowl. He has completed his piece by painting a wide gold rim which ties the golden leaves into this masterpiece. The bowl is signed by the renowned French art studio artist: 'J. Barin". Barin's artwork appears in Mary Gaston's 'Collectors Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain', where he is a listed studio artist. This 19th Century Limoges painter was known for his floral and berry china paintings. There are no chips, hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
