This bowl is a WOW!! It was a wonderful treasure buried deep on a back shelf of an antique store. It had to be someone's prize possession to be in such pristine condition. It has a beautiful transfer of two birds in a fruit tree placed on a brilliant white background. Bright red and purple fruit add additional color that sets this piece above most. The transfers white flowers and other features have been hand painted with white enamel paint adding depth and a three dimensional look. The bowl has a 1" rim that has basket weave design impressed in an octagonal pattern. When held up to the light it is almost transparent the porcelain is so fine, see picture. The gold rim is a little worn but considering the age and beauty of the dish this is easily overlooked. There are no chips, hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
If you are a bird lover you will truly enjoy this bowls decoration!!
Bowl measures 11" wide and 2 ¼" tall.
Backstamp: Bawo & Dotter Limoges dating from 1870-1889
