Great Aesthetic Black Transfer Earthenware Bowl ~ Indus Pattern with Asian Pheasants & FLora ~ attributed to Ridgways Staffordshire England 1877

This would make a nice display piece for that bird lover in your life. Surrounding the center is an asymmetrical border with hummingbirds, trumpeter vines and other flora reflecting the influence of the aesthetic movement popular at the time. This pattern has a design featuring a heron and another bird among bulrushes.. The Indus River -- the probable inspiration for this pattern name -- originates in Tibet and flows through Kashmir and Pakistan on its way to the Arabian Sea. . There are no chips or cracks. IT IS RARE TO FIND ANTIQUE EARTHENWARE IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
