Wonderful American Avalon Faience Majolica Footed Center or Punch Bowl ~ Leaves and Berries and Flowers ~ Chesapeake Pottery ~ David Haynes & Co Baltimore MA 1882-1890

This nice example of 19th Century American Avalon Faience Majolica is this compelling display large center bowl or punch bowl.Produced by David F. Haynes & Co. of Baltimore; Haynes bought the old Chesapeake Pottery in 1882, and Avalon Faience was an inspired result. The bowl / compote features highly raised leaves berries and flowers on a roughened cream colored ground, hand-painted and with teal green outlines and gold gilt..relating to the Aesthetic Movement and making for a quite striking example of period American Majolica.. If you collect classic 19th Century American Majolica and especially the designs put forth by Chesapeake pottery and David Haynes, or simply wish this single improvement to the ambiance of a room in your home, this will have great meaning for you. This piece has no chips or crack and is in excellent condition please see pictures.

IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE MAJOLICA / Faience IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.

This would make a wonderful addition to any majolica collection. Please see our Chesapeake Collection in our shop!
