Exquisite Wavecrest Opal Glass Hinged Box ~ Shell Design ~ Hand Painted with Yellow flowers ~ C F Monroe Co Late 1800's

The C.F. Monroe Company turned out its decorated Opal Ware in a variety of forms. Undoubtedly the most popular was that of a covered, hinged box, and these boxes are found today in an infinite variety of shapes . This fantastic Hand Painted Wavecrest hinged box is decorated with a lovely yellow floral design with raised enamel accents. It also has a translucent blue tint in the opal glass on the blown out shell design portion on both pieces. The inside has a beautiful golden satin cloth lining in very good condition. SUPERIOR condition with no chips, cracks, or dings and even its original brass closures are in excellent condition with minimal ware for its age.
