Ornate Tin Pudding Jelly Mold - Shell Motif - c.1890
It was found at a recent estate sale, hanging on the old farmhouse kitchen wall. There's no sign that it ever had a hanging ring, and someone punched a small hole in the rim for hanging (seen in photo 3).
Showing a lovely sea shell & braid design, most of its bright tinning has worn away, leaving a smooth dark gray patina. It's in very nice condition ...there's very minor oxidation here and there, no dents, all seams are tight.
The inside is clean and very usable for cold desserts. I have several old molds and usually will make a gelatin dessert at the holidays, just so I can use them! (Once your dessert is chilled and ready, dip the mold up to the rim, very quickly, into hot water. Then invert onto a serving dish. Easy peasy!) Makes a great kitchen display in between times!
