Leather Photo Album Artist Painted Provincetown Cape Cod

Very interesting old leather album along with about 25 photographs, from all indications it seems to have originated in an artist colony in the Provincetown or Cape Cod Massachusetts area. Probably from the late thirties. There is a colorful handpainted image of trees by a lake on the lower right corner. The leather is a mottled russet color on the front, and a deep brown textured leather for the back cover with a stamped foliage type design. It has a dark leather binding and lace on one side. There are 13 unused black construction or felt paper type pages. There are about 25 old photographs - one is marked Provincetown Art Market, the others appear to be street and beach scenes from the Cape Cod Massachusetts area. The photos were affixed to some deteriorating pages of the album and are now loose.

There is wear to the edges of the album, the black lining on the covers is lifting in spots, and the edges are rubbed. Measures about 11 x 7 inches. Some of the photos are slightly faded, a few have tears or marks. Photos range in size - 4 x 3 inches, 2 x 3 inches.
