Uri Roth was born in Czechoslovakia and was an inmate in Auschwitz, Poland as a young boy. After liberation he wanted to go to Palestine but was interned by the British on Cyprus. Eventually he was able to enter the country and worked on Kibbutz Dan for several years. He became a member of the Palmach and helped to liberate the Galilee. He wanted to be an artist and was trained amongst others by Marcel Janco. In the 1960 ties he entered his works in exhibitions in Tel Aviv and won prizes. He was associated with the Olive Wood firm of Hayadith in Pardess Hannah which presented his works.
