Early 1900s Vintage Australian Tiger Iron Stone Pendant Necklace

This is an unusual early 1900s vintage Australian tiger iron stone pendant necklace suspended from a black suede ribbon strung with ribbed silver beads. This type of stone; variously called ironstone, tiger stone, or striped tiger's eye; comes mainly from Australia and is often the material within which opals are found. It is a handsome stone on its own. This particular pendant is a large faceted rectangular slab simply drilled at the top to be a pendant. It is suspended from its original black suede ribbon which is strung with 11 sterling silver (tested) beads. The other findings are brass. There is a hook that can be attached to an additional ring on the top of the pendant to wear this as a doubled necklace. Or leave it unhooked and wear as a long single strand.

The necklace is 31" in total length around, or 16" including the hook length if worn doubled. The pendant alone measures 1.75" x 1.125" x .25".

Condition is good.

I have always liked cool stones, and this one is quite lovely and unusual.
